(FILES) French President FranA§ois Mitterrand (R) embraces his South African counterpart Nelson Mandela, 04 July 1994, after Mitterrand received the Order of Good Hope Award from Mandela in Cape Town. On the tenth anniversary of the death of former president Francois Mitterrand, a nostalgia-fest of commemorations, television programmes and political musings bears witness this week to France-s abiding fascination with this most complex of 20th century statesmen. High-point of the ceremonies will be 08 January 2006 -- ten years to the day since the Socialist party (PS) leader succumbed to cancer at the age of 79 -- when hundreds of party faithful will gather in his home-town of Jarnac, in western France, for a day of remembrance.
