(FILES) Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon (L) closes his eyes next to his then Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu 21 April 2005 during at meeting at the prime minister-s office in Jerusalem. Sharon, 77, was returned to the operating theatre 06 January 2006, after doctors reported a downturn in his condition, two days after he suffered a massive stroke. Some of his closest allies have already acknowledged the premier is unlikely to ever return to office, while the Israeli media were already publishing their political obituaries and studying the implications of post-Sharon elections.
