Chinese shoppers crowd a busy shopping area in Beijing 09 January 2006, with a giant blowup doll of a dog to welcome the upcoming Lunar New Year of the Dog. A top China economist said he expects growth of between eight to nine percent next year, after it was found that the 2005 economy-s value had been understated by 284 billion USD, as he claimed that the economy is expected to slow fractionally in 2006 from the 9.4 percent annualised rate recorded in the first nine months of the year.
