CHILE-ELECTION-BACHELET-PINERA

Socialist Bachelet is expected to become the country-s first woman leader after a runoff presidential vote next 15 January 2006 against billionaire conservative opponent Pinera. The two rivals ended their campaigns on 12 January with giant rallies as a last poll gave Bachelet, a 54-year-old single mother of three, a six percentage point lead over Pinera.
