IRAN-BIRD FLU-POULTRY
Iranian veterinary officials put a domestic bird in the suffocating tank as villagers fearing to contract bird flu line up to have their birds gassed and buried at the village of Barasb in Orumiyeh along Iran-s icy mountainous border with Turkey, 17 January 2006. Veterinary officials began their effort to destroy 150,000 birds in 240 border villages five days ago. So far, 13,000 birds in 80 villages within 10 kilometers (six miles) of Turkish soil have been dealt with. AFP PHOTO/ATTA KENARE
