SLOVAKIA-HUNGARY-NATO-AIRCRAFT-CEREMONY
NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer (R) pays his last respect to late members of the Slovak armed forces, who died 19 January 2006 in the AN-24 military-aircraft crash on a hill in Hungary, during a special farewell ceremony held at the Presov city hall 26 January 2006. A military plane carrying Slovak peacekeepers ploughed into a snow-clad mountain in northeast Hungary and burst into flames, killing 42 people aboard and leaving a sole survivor. The sole survivor of a Slovakian military plane crash that killed 42 people last week thanked his Hungarian rescuers Wednesday in his first public appearance since the disaster.
