Hamas-s exiled political chief Khaled Meshaal holds a press conference in Damascus 28 January 2006. The Palestinian Islamist group will prove as effective in politics and reform as in fighting Israel, its Syrian-based supremo pledged, following its landslide electoral win earlier this week.
