NEPAL-POLITICS- MINISTER
Nepalese Assistant Minister for Communication, Shirish Shushsher Rana addresses a press conference saying that the upcoming municipal elections is the only way to restore consitution rights, on the second day of a week-long national strike called by Maoist rebel, in Kathmandu, 06 February 2006. Maoist suspected rebels killed one policeman and wounded four others in Nepal on the second day of the general strike to disrupt local elections due on on 08 February. The Maoist have threatened to increase attackes in the run-up o 08 February vote, which King Gyanendra-s government insisted would go ahead despite claims that the election is aimed at justifying his seizure of full power one year ago.
