GERMANY-CARNIVAL-TRADITION-PARADE
A float featuring conservative German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Matthias Platzeck, head of her social democratic coalition partner SPD, makes its way through the revellers during the Rose Monday carnival street parade 27 February 2006 in Duesseldorf, western Germany. More than one million people took to the streets of cities across the Rhine region of Germany to celebrate the highpoint of the country-s carnival week.
