The body of a Palestinian killed by Israeli troops lies on the ground next to a home made land mine in theRafah refugee camp, in the southern Gaza Strip 23 December 2003. Eight Palestinians have been killedduring an Israeli army raid in southern Gaza today hours after two Israeli officers died in a grenade attackduring one of the bloodiest bouts of violence in months. Palestinian medical and security sources said theeight who were killed in the Rafah refugee camp, including a policeman and a rescue worker, had died afterexchanges of fire with Israeli troops during the operation, which involved some 15 jeeps and armouredvehicles.AFP PHOTO/Mohammed ABED
