US-ATTACKS-TRIAL-MOUSSAOUI

Courtroom rendering of avowed al-Qaeda follower Zacarias Moussaoui (L) during opening statements by FBI agent Harry Samit (C), one of the agents who questioned Moussaoui about the pre-11 September flight training he took in preparation for an al-Qaeda attack on the United States, during his trial at the US Federal Courthouse 20 March 2006 in Alexandria, Virginia. The turbulent death penalty trial of Al-Qaeda plotter Zacarias Moussaoui resumed, after a week on the verge of collapse while the judge probed witness discrepancies. FBI agent Samit, who arrested the 37-year-old Frenchman weeks before the September 11 attacks in 2001, was cross-examined by the defense as the trial restarted after Judge Leonie Brinkema came close to throwing it out entirely.
