US-ATTACKS-TRIAL-MOUSSAOUI
Courtroom rendering of avowed al-Qaeda follower Zacarias Moussaoui (L) during opening statements 27 March 2006, during his trial at the US Federal Courthouse in Alexandria, Virginia. Al-Qaeda operative Zacarias Moussaoui said 27 March, that Osama bin Laden ordered him to fly a jet into the White House on September 11, 2001 as he gave evidence that strengthened the prosecution case for his excecution.
Moussaoui was allowed to testify and give a radically new version of his planned role in September 11 despite a defence application for him to be prevented from speaking. Judge Leonie Brinkema (C) overruled the defence objections and Moussaoui went on to tell how he had been chosen to fly a plane into the White House. Defense lawyer Gerald Zerkin, who had tried to prevent the testimony, asked Moussaoui whether he had been part of the September 11 plot. Moussaoui replied: "Yes".
