FRANCE-POLITICS-JOBS-YOUTH-DEMO
(FromL) French Socialist MP Henri Emmanuelli, Paris Mayor Bertrand Delanoe, Socialist party-s national secretary Jack Lang, former socialist Minister Catherine Tasca, former Finance Minister Dominique Strauss-Kahn and President of Ile-de-France region Jean-Paul Huchon demonstrate, 28 March 2006, as part of a day of strikes and protest against the government-s contested First Employment Contract (CPE), a permanent work contract for those under 26, which allows an employer to lay off the employee during the first two years of employment. Commuters in France faced major disruption today as transport unions shut down large parts of the rail and bus networks to protest the government-s contested youth employment plan.
