AFGHANISTAN-POLITICS-KARZAI
Afghan President Hamid Karzai (R) accepts an elder-s gift of a turban before delivering a speech at a ceremony in to the southern town of Qalat, the capital of Zabul province, 28 March 2006. Karzai called on Taliban fighters, during a rare visit to a hotbed of a crippling insurgency, to stop being "slaves" to those organising the violence. Karzai made the appeal in the eastern Zabul province, one of the focuses of the four-year-old insurgency that sees regular suicide blasts, car bombings and other attacks. AFP PHOTO/ SHAH Marai
