Russia has one of the highest rates of HIV positive people under the age of 30, a UN official said 29 March 2006. Bertil Lindblad, a UNAIDS representative in Russia, told a news conference that more than 80 percent of patients suffering from the virus were under the age of 30, against the figure of 30 percent in North America and Western Europe.
