BRITAIN-SHAKESPEARE-FIRST-FOLIO
A First Folio edition of William Shakespeare-s plays (1623), considered to be one of the most important books in English literature, is seen at Sotheby-s auction house in London 30 March 2006. Published seven years after his death, the volume contains a total of 36 plays, 18 of which had never previously been printed. 750 copies were printed, about a third of which still survive. This copy contains extensive markings and annotations that provide an invaluable insight into it-s early readership, and it is expected to fetch ÂL2.5 - ÂL3.5 million. AFP PHOTO / JOHN D MCHUGH
