CZECH-FLOODS-LABE (ELBE)-KRESLICE
Czech firefighter Miroslav Vojir rescues a cat from Milan Svatek-s flooded house, 04 April 2006 in Kreslice, 70km northwest of Prague, near the city of Litomerice. The Czech Republic-s swollen River Elbe started to fall for the first time in a week 04 April, giving hope to thousands of people threatened by flooding and thousands more already forced to flee their homes. "The level of the Elbe culminated during the night, but we cannot say the danger is over," Usti city council spokesman, Milan Knotek, told AFP. "Those people who have been evacuated will not be allowed back to their homes until the end of the week at the earliest," he added. AFP PHOTO- JAKUB HNEVKOVSKY
