US-SPACE-SUNSPOT
This 06 January, 2004 NASA Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) image of the Sun shows a verylarge sunspot. Sunspot 536, about six times wider than Earth poses a threat for X-class solar flares, majorevents that can trigger planet-wide radio blackouts and long-lasting radiation storms. AFP PHOTO/NASA
