(FILES) A picture taken 19 July 2002 in Guer, western France, shows the front of the special militarySaint-Cyr school. Two African soldiers died of cold overnight 12 to 13 January 2004 during a training exercisein the French Alps, the defence ministry in Paris said. The two men, from Togo and Niger, were on athree-week course organised by the elite Saint-Cyr military college in Brittany. "Initially weather conditionswere difficult but not abnormal. But they deteriorated and one of three groups taking part bivouacked in amakeshift shelter. When checks were made in the night, it was found that two foreign trainees from Africahad died," saids Michel Luc, spokesman at the defence ministry. AFP PHOTO FILES
