AUSTRALIA-ARTS-HEIDE-WALKING-MACHINE
Zara Stanhope, Senior Curator at the Heide Museum of Modern Art, is harnessed up in Stelarc's Muscle Machine, one of the world's largest working walking machines, as one of Australia's most important cultural institutions reopens 18 months after a major redevelopment, in Melbourne 13 July 2006. The Heide Museum of Mordern Art grew out of a farm purchased by John and Sunday Reed and became a haven for artists, writers, and musicians including Albert Tucker, Joy Hester, Sidney Nolan (who painted the famous Ned Kelly series there), Charles Blackman, Arthur Boyd, John Perceval and Mike Brown.
