CUBA-CASTRO
Workers dismantle installations after the cancelation of Havana's Carnival, at the seafront (Malecon) of the Cuban capital 03 August 2006. The Carnival was canceled due to the Cuban President Fidel Castro health condition. Speculation grew over Fidel Castro's health following surgery as both the communist leader and his replacement and brother Raul Castro remain out of sight today, while security quietly tightens around the country. A top official said Wednesday that Fidel Castro, 79, remained "very alert" following his operation, and continued to closely follow domestic and international affairs. AFP PHOTO/Bartolome MESA
