BELGIUM-ITALY-DISASTER-COMMEMORATION
Wearing their works clothes and helmets, former mine workers attend a ceremony, in Bois du Cazier, near Charleroi, 08 August 2006 marking the 50th anniversary of the Bois du Cazier disaster that killed 262 people in Marcinelle. Several thousand people, some coming from as far as Poland and Algeria, took part in the ceremonies. Only about a dozen miners survived the tragedy.
