BELGIUM-CHILDREN-CRIME-DUTROUX
WITH AFP STORY "Dutroux case casts dark shadow over Belgium 10 years after arrest"
(FILES) Sabine Dardenne (L) kisses Laetitia Delhez outside Belgian child rapist Marc Dutroux' house in Marcinelle 27 April 2004. The two surviving victims of Dutroux, Sabine Dardenne and Laetitia Delhez made an emotional return 27 April to the dungeon-like cellar where he incarcerated and abused them eight years ago, as participants in his trial viewed the crime scene. Ten years ago this Sunday Belgian police arrested child killer Marc Dutroux, uncovering a case of kidnapping, rape and murder that would scar the country long afterwards. The Dutroux case broke with his arrest on August 13, 1996 after police tracked down the unemployed electrician with the licence plate of his van, which was spotted on the scene where a 14-year-old girl, Laetitia Delhez, was abducted four days before in Neufchateau in southeastern Belgium.
