GERMANY-TRANSPORT-AIRLINE-AIR BERLIN-DBA
An aircraft of German airline company Air Berlin sits between two DBA planes, 17 August 2006 on the tarmac of Munich's airport. Air Berlin, Europe's number three low-cost carrier, said in a statement 17 August 2006 it had acquired 100 percent of German low-cost carrier DBA's shares for around 50 million euros (64 million dollars). Together, the two companies expect to carry around 20 million passengers, they said, Air Berlin has a fleet of 58, DBA of 29 aircraft. The latest move will put further pressure on market leader Lufthansa, in the skies above Germany.
