This handout image recieved 22 August, 2006 courtesy of the SanDisk Corporation, shows the Sansa MP3 player. SanDisk Corporation introduced the world's highest-capacity MP3 player 21 August and priced it to take a bigger bite of the market dominated by Apple's iPod.
The Sansa e280 featured eight gigabytes of flash-based memory expandable to ten gibabytes, which translated into the potential to store as many as 2,500 songs. The Milpitas, California, company priced its new player at 249.99 USD, putting it in a price bracket with Apple Computer iPod models offering about half the music-storing capacity.
