IRAQ-BRITAIN-ASQUITH
Ambassador Dominic Asquith, Britain's new ambassador to Iraq, holds his first news conference in Baghdad 27 August 2006 against the backdrop of series of gun and bomb attacks that killed 14 people. Asquith, the great grandson of the late British Prime Minister Herbert Asquith, began work on an optimistic note side-stepping a warning from his predecessor that the country is more likely to see civil war than a sustainable democracy.
