Rescue workers stand next to an Iranian airliner which caught fire on landing at the Hasheminejad airport in the city of Mashhad, 900 kms northeast of the capital Tehran, 01 September 2006. According to Iran's state television the Russian-made Tupolev, which was on an internal flight from the southern port city of Bandar Abbas, suffered a tyre burst on landing and swerved off the runway before hitting nearby barriers and bursting into flames, the television said. There were 148 passengers on board the flight, the television said, adding that some survivors had escaped without life-threatening injuries. Twinty-nine people were killed in the accident, Iran's civil aviation chief said, lowering earlier reports of up to 80 dead. AFP PHOTO/ISNA
