PERU-ANDEAN CONDORS
"Inca", a young male condor spreads its wings in the "Center for the Repopulation of Andean Condors" --managed by the San Antonio de Abad University of Cusco-- 19 August, 2006 in Cusco, southern Peru. The project works on the repopulation of condors --which are in danger of extinction-- in the area. The repopulation started with a couple --male and female-- bred in the Konrad Lorenz Institute of Vienna, Austria. The birds were trained and brought to Peru by a foundation created by late paraglide flier recordman and scientist, Italian Angelo d'Arrigo, on last July 2006, but they haven't completed their introduction into wildlife yet due to lack of funds.
