European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso and Enlargement Commissioner olli Rehn congratulated Bulgaria on Wednesday for "well-deserving" go-ahead to join the European Union next year but urged the Balkan state to "ensure the continuity and irreversibility of reforms".
