MEXICO-SEXUAL DISCRIMINATION
Roberto Mendoza Ralph (4th L), former employee of Coca Cola-Femsa in Mexico, the Mexican Federal Representiative (PRD) David Sanchez Mendoza (5th L) and members of the Alternativa political party hold a banner during their protest in front of the corporation building in Mexico City, 27 September 2006. The case of Roberto Mendoza goes back to 1998 when, as a top executive in Coca Cola-Femsa, he made public his sexual orientation and was then hindered in his professional development which resulted in his resignation in 2003. Mendoza took his case to the courts in August 2005 with the support of the governmental National Council to prevent Discrimination (Conapred) and last January the instruction of the cause was initiated.
