EGYPT-US-NAVY-SUEZ-WILLIAMS
The guided-missile destroyer USS James E. Williams (DDG 95) passes through the Suez Canal by the Egyptian city of Ismailia, 100 kilometers northeast of Cairo, 01 October 2006 on its way to the Mediterranean Sea from the Gulf. According to US Navy sources, the Williams deployed 02 May from Norfolk, Virginia, on its maiden voyage providing presence and strike power to support joint and allied forces afloat and ashore as part of the Global War on Terrorism Surface Strike Group (GWOT SSG).
