IRELAND-AIRLINE-PRIVATISATION-COMPANY-IPO-AERLINGUS-RYANAIR
(FILES) An Aer Lingus jet comes in to land at Dublin airport, in Ireland, 18 September 2006. Low-cost airline Ryanair on Thursday 05 October 2006 launched an audacious bid for Aer Lingus worth 1.481 billion euros (1.883 billion dollars), just days after its Irish peer was partly privatized. The move places Europe's largest low-budget airline on course for a potential clash with the Irish government after Prime Minister Bertie Ahern insisted it has no wish to sell its minority stake of just over 28.0 percent in Aer Lingus. A deal would meanwhile create "the first trans-Atlantic budget airline", analysts at the Sucden brokerage in London said. AFP PHOTO/ ADRIAN DENNIS
