NIGER-CHAD-POLITICS
A crying little nomad sandwiched by household wares packed on a camel is being carried away from their Woudi desert Camp in Niger Republic following threat of expulsion by the Nigerian authorities, 28 October, 2006. Meanwhile, the Nigerian authorities have suspended the decision to expel over 100,000 nomadic Mahamid Arabs alleged illegal immigrants to neighbouring Chad accused of wrong doing in the border region of Diffa, following intervention of neighbouring countries sharing borders with it. One consequence of the on-and-off expulsion has been the death of two small girls who perished this week from thirst and were buried in the sand dunes of the desert.
