NICARAGUA-ELECTIONS-CARRION-IRREGULARITIES
Former Commander of the Sandinista Revolution (1979-1990), Luis Carrion, head of the electoral campaign of the Renewal Sandinista Movement (MRS), expresses to journalist that his party considers there are irregularities in the electoral process, 05 November 2006, in Managua. Voting got under way Sunday in Nicaraguan elections in which Daniel Ortega for the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN), hovered close to the 35 percent needed to win outright. Ortega benefitted from the conservatives' failure to rally behind a single candidate, with Jose Rizo of the Liberal Constitutionalist Party and Eduardo Montealegre, a PLC dissident, battling to defeat him and each other.
