LEBANON-POLITICS-MEETING
(From L to R) Lebanese anti-Syrian leader Amin Gemyael, Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berri and Hezbollah deputy Mohammed Raad talk during their meeting in Beirut, 07 November 2006. Lebanese leaders broke off from roundtable talks to look at proposals for a possible government change sought by the pro-Syrian Hezbollah but rejected by opponents as a bid by Damascus to regain influence in Beirut politics. Berri said the 48-hour break was to allow participants to study "various proposals" presented during the second day of crucial talks aimed at ending Lebanon's crippling political stalemate.
