SWEDEN-FASHION-RETAIL-HM
Frenzied customers more or less grabbs what they can as Swedish low-cost fashion giant Hennes and Mauritz's (H&M) in Stockholm opened their doors at 10:00 am local time (09:00 GMT) to sample the group's latest collection of affordable haute couture, this year created by Dutch design duo Viktor and Rolf. In November 2004 the retailer launched the concept in style with a line of clothing designed by Chanel fashion legend Karl Lagerfeld. The idea proved an immediate commercial hit and a year later H and M repeated the success with a more casual collection created by trendy British designer Stella McCartney. While the previous two years' designers were household names, Viktor and Rolf are however relative unknowns outside the fashion world. AFP PHOTO / SVEN NACKSTRAND
