BRITAIN-NEWZEALAND-MEMORIAL-ROYAS
Britain's Queen Elizabeth II inspects the Royal Guard of Honour made up from serviceman from New Zealand at Hyde Park Corner in London during a ceremony to dedicate the New Zealand Memorial 11 November 2006. The memorial is the first to the fallen of New Zealand in the United Kingdom and is designed to be a permanent reminder of the long-standing relationship between the United Kingdom and New Zealand. The striking £1 million tribute, known as Southern Stand, consists of 16 cross-shaped vertical bronze pillars - each one representing a different aspect of New Zealand life and inscribed with text, patterns and sculptures.
