SURFING-US-SLATER
Reigning eight times ASP world champion and multiple Pipeline Masters winner Kelly Slater of the US rides a wave at the Rip Curl Pro Pipeline Masters in Banzai Pipeline, North Shore, 10 December 2006. Slater was defeated by Jamie O’Brien of Hawaii. The Rip Curl Pro Pipeline Masters is the final event on the 2006 Fosters Men’s ASP World Tour season and will determine who will re-qualify for 2007. The event features the top 45 surfers in the world with 21 wildcards who are renowned Pipe specialists with a total prize of 280,000 USD.
