BELGIUM-VW-FOREST VORST-STRIKE-NEGOCIATIONS
Members of the VW Forest/Vorst Direction board of the Volkswagen Belgian plant take a break during a meeting with VW Vorst - Forest unions representatives, 12 December 2006, in Groot-Bijgaarden. Europe's biggest carmaker (VW) employs around 5,400 people at its Forest plant in Brussels but the workers have been concerned for their jobs since a management shake up in Germany earlier this month. In the throes of a major re-organisation, VW plans, over three years, to slash some 20,000 jobs in Germany and could announce other cuts in Spain and Portugal, as well as Belgium, in coming weeks.
