Republican US Senator John McCain from Arizona speaks during a press conference in Baghdad, 14 December 2006. McCain strongly advocated sending more troops to Iraq to control the sectarian violence and also recommended a crackdown on the Mahdi army of radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr.
