GERMANY-EUROPE-GEOGRAPHY-CENTER
Hessen state minister for European affairs Volker Hoff poses 26 January 2007 with a banner and a European flag, at Europe's new geographic center, in Meerholz near Gelnhausen. Paris' National Georgraphical Institute (IGN) calculated the new centre of the EU, following Bulgaria and Rumania's entry 01 January 2007 to be on a hilltop called Niedermittlauer Heiligenkopf, surrounded by the four cities of Niedermittlau, Bernbach, Lützelhausen and Meerholz, east of Frankfurt/Main in the state of Hessen.
