IRAQ-RELIGION-SHIITE-ASHURA

A Shiite Iraqi boy carries a flag with the name of Imam Hussein on it during a gathering outside Baghdad's Al-Khilani mosque where the head of the Supreme Council of Islamic Revolution (SCIRI) Abdel Aziz al-Hakim gave a speech to mark 'Ashura', 29 January 2007. Hakim, one of Iraq's most powerful Shiite leaders, renewed calls for the institution of the central and southern provinces in Iraq saying that it constitutes the best solution for the country. Ashura marks the seventh-century martyrdom of Prophet Mohammad's grandson Imam Hussein in the holy Iraqi city of Karbala. AFP PHOTO/SABAH ARAR
