A Chinese model shows off a specially gold crafted spectacle at a private luxury show in Beijing 29 January 2007. China is also currently the world's third-largest consumer of luxury goods, accounting for 12 percent of global sales, behind Japan's 41 percent and 17 percent for the United States, but in just 10 years, if the Chinese economy were to grow at 20 percent until 2008, and 10 percent thereafter it could rival Japan as the world's top consumer of luxury items.
