Aerial image of the firebrigade at work extinguishing the fire aboard a fishing vessel, in the port of Velsen, some 20 kilometers (12 miles) north of Amsterdam, 31 January 2007. Around 100 people were evacuated from the industrial zone after large amounts of hydrocyanic acid and carbon monoxide leaked from the vessel. A spokeswoman for Amsterdam-Schiphol said that two runways were closed for landing from around 1000 GMT onwards due to smoke from the fire, although this caused no delays.
