FRANCE-COLOMBIA-BETANCOURT
Daughter of the kidnapped Colombian presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt, Melanie (2ndR), unveils a portrait of her mother placed on the facade of the Marigny theater, 01 February 2007 in Paris, flanked by Paris mayor Bertrand Delanoe (2ndL), French journalits Patrick Poivre-d'Avor (L) and French actor Philippe Torreton (R). Betancourt, now 45, was abducted on February 23, 2002 along with her running mate Clara Rojas, by the left-wing FARC as she was campaigning in the south of the country. The freedom committee for the kidnapped Colombian presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt rejected 31 January 2007 the military rescue of a former Colombian minister, saying such operations were highly dangerous.
