NETHERLANDS-POLITICS-GOVERNMENT
Outgoing Dutch Christian Democrat Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende (C) gives a press conference 07 February 2007 with incoming center-left coalition partners, Wouter Bos (L) of the Labour PvdA party and Andre Rouvoet of the conservative protestant Christian Union, to announce they had come to an agreement on a broad amnesty for thousands of failed asylum-seekers and a focus on social issues in a break with the previous rightwing administration. In a week or two, the Netherlands will officially have a new government, ending political deadlock following elections in November 2006, which dealt a heavy blow to the Christian Democrats.
