New US military commander in Iraq General David Petraeus (C) addresses Iraqi and American dignitaries and officers during a handover ceremony at the US military Camp Victory in Baghdad, 10 February 2007. Petraeus, a 54-year-old paratrooper with a reputation as a deep thinker, took on today the toughest job in the US military as head of American-led forces in Iraq.
