AUSTRALIA-TOURISM-KATA TJUTA-OLGAS
The 36 granite and basalt conglomerate domes of Kata Tjuta (meaning: 'many heads' in the local Anangu Aboriginal language), also known as the Olgas, rise up to 546 metres above the surrounding desert in central Australia, 16 February 2007. These unique monoliths which contain the sacred initiation ceremony sites for the Pitjantjatjara and Yankuntjatjara Aborigines are now visited by over 500,000 tourists from around the world every year.
