Rising food prices in India have helped push widely watched annual wholesale price inflation above the central bank's estimate to a two-year high of more than 6 percent. India's Congress-led government is facing attacks over soaring inflation but it was the tripling of onion prices that revived memories of the dietary staple toppling administrations in the past.
