Ford Motor Company is nearing a deal to sell its Aston Martin brand in an effort to free up cash as the company's North American business faces challenges, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday 12 March 2007. Citing people familiar with the situation, the newspaper said Ford is likely to announce as soon as Monday the sale of its Aston Martin division to an investor group called Prodrive led by international motor-racing entrepreneur David Richards in a deal that values the brand at about 870 million dollars.
